Biography
Maja D. Hazell is a managing director and head of diversity, equity, and inclusion for a leading global investment and technology development firm. Ms. Hazell was previously global head of diversity and inclusion for White & Case LLP, where she advised clients, global partners, and senior leaders across practice areas, business units, functions, and industry groups on embedding DEI in their business strategies and talent goals.
She also previously served as director of diversity and inclusion at Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP and as an assistant dean for career development at the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University. Ms. Hazell began her career as an associate at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, where she advised executives, purchasers, targets, financial advisors, and management groups on labor and employment, compensation, and benefits issues in corporate policies, procedures, and transactions.
She received her J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center and her B.A. in English from Yale University. Ms. Hazell holds memberships on the executive board of the New York Urban League and the pre-law advisory board of Hunter College. She is also a former president of the Association of Law Firm Diversity Professionals; a founding member of the board of advisors to the Leadership Institute of the Council of Urban Professionals for pipeline development in finance, media, and law; and a former member of diversity committees of the New York City Bar Association. Ms. Hazell is a trained life and leadership coach, diversity training facilitator, and Society for Human Resources Management Senior Certified Professional.
