Just call me the interview nerd. I'm the one who has enjoyed proofreading friends' resumes since high school, and almost 20 years later, relished putting my beloved law students through their paces during mock interviews when I served as a career development dean. Why? You are your best thing, and showing up powerfully to convince a stranger to provide the opportunities that match your talent, interests, and (hopefully) passion warrants appropriate preparation. Thankfully, as our work norms shift to virtual formats, even more opportunities are available to those who get interviewing right.

Years ago, at a social event, a partner I work with a lot who is not American remarked on a series of police brutality cases in the press at that time and earnestly asked me why the Black community in the US had such a strained relationship with police forces. My response, I believe, led him to understand better the historical context for the relationship and has helped make him a better ally today.

I had the honor of joining esteemed professionals in law and banking for the SIFMA C&L 2019 Annual Seminar on March 26. SIFMA is the leading trade association for broker-dealers, investment banks and asset managers operating in the U.S. and global capital markets.
